Safety Information

Read and understand all instructions before operating. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  1. PPE: Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toed boots, and close-fitting clothing.
  2. Work Area: Keep bystanders, children, and pets at least 50 feet away. Operate only in well-ventilated areas.
  3. Kickback Zone: Be aware of the upper quadrant of the bar tip. Do not let this part contact wood or other objects.
  4. Pre-Start Check: Inspect chainsaw for damage, ensure chain is sharp and properly tensioned, check fuel and oil levels.

WARNING! Kickback can cause severe injury or death. Always hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands. Never operate above shoulder height or on a ladder.

Assembly & Initial Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Assembly requires attaching the guide bar and chain, and filling fluids.

  1. Attach Bar & Chain: Place the bar onto the mounting studs. Loop the chain around the bar, ensuring cutting teeth face forward on top. Engage the drive links into the sprocket. Use the tool-less tensioner to adjust.
  2. Fill Bar & Chain Oil: Use recommended bar and chain oil. Fill the oil reservoir located near the fuel tank.
  3. Prepare Fuel Mix: Use fresh, unleaded gasoline (minimum 89 octane) mixed with a high-quality 2-cycle engine oil at a 50:1 ratio. Shake well before filling the fuel tank.
  4. Final Check: Ensure all nuts and covers are secure. Pull the chain around the bar by hand to ensure it moves freely.

CAUTION! Fuel is highly flammable. Mix and fill outdoors, away from sparks or flames. Wipe up any spills immediately.

Specifications

Controls and Components

Familiarize yourself with all controls before starting the engine.

Main Controls: On/Off Switch, Choke Lever, Primer Bulb, Throttle Trigger, Throttle Lockout, Chain Brake Lever.

Components: Front Handle with Hand Guard, Rear Handle, Fuel Tank Cap, Oil Tank Cap, Spark Plug, Air Filter Cover, Muffler, Chain Catcher.

Operation: The Throttle Lockout must be depressed before the Throttle Trigger can be engaged. The Chain Brake is engaged by pushing the front hand guard forward (manually) or by inertia during kickback.

Operation

Starting and using your chainsaw correctly ensures safety and optimal performance.

  1. Starting (Cold): Place on flat, clear ground. Engage chain brake. Move On/Off switch to "I". Pull choke lever out. Press primer bulb 5-6 times. Hold rear handle with right foot, pull starter rope sharply until engine 'pops'. Push choke lever in. Pull starter rope again to start. Disengage chain brake.
  2. Starting (Warm): Follow steps above but do not use choke or primer.
  3. Cutting: Use a firm, two-handed grip. Let the saw do the work; do not force it. Plan your cut and escape path. For felling, use proper notch and backcut techniques.
  4. Stopping: Release throttle trigger. Move On/Off switch to "O".

Tip: Always cut at full throttle. Never "ride" the chain brake during operation.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures long life and safe operation. Perform these checks before each use.

  1. Air Filter: Clean regularly. Remove cover, tap out debris, or wash in soapy water if very dirty. Let dry completely before reinstalling.
  2. Spark Plug: Check and clean every 25 hours. Replace if electrodes are worn. Gap: 0.025".
  3. Fuel Filter: Replace annually or if clogged.
  4. Bar & Chain: Clean bar grooves and oil holes. Flip the bar weekly for even wear.
  5. Exterior: Wipe down with a dry cloth. Keep cooling fins and muffler area free of sawdust.

WARNING! Always allow the engine to cool completely before performing any maintenance. Disconnect the spark plug wire for safety.

Chain Sharpening & Replacement

A sharp chain is essential for safe and efficient cutting.

  1. Sharpening: Use a round file matching the chain's pitch (e.g., 5/32"). Secure the bar. File each cutter at the manufacturer's specified angle (typically 30°). Maintain consistent file height. File depth gauges (rakers) with a flat file and gauge.
  2. Replacement: Replace the chain when cutters are shortened from repeated sharpening, or if damaged. Ensure new chain matches bar specifications (Pitch, Gauge, Drive Link count).
  3. Tensioning: Chain should be snug against the bar but pull freely by hand. Re-tension when chain sags away from the bar. Always check tension when the chain is cold.

CAUTION! Wear heavy gloves when handling the chain. A dull chain increases the risk of kickback.

Storage

Proper storage prevents fuel system issues and corrosion.

  1. Drain all fuel from the tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor.
  2. Remove, clean, and oil the chain. Store separately.
  3. Clean the entire saw thoroughly.
  4. Store in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.

Long-Term Storage: Consider adding a fuel stabilizer to a fresh fuel mix, run for 2 minutes, then drain completely.
