Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Engine won't start Old fuel, clogged spark plug, improper starting procedure Use fresh fuel mix, clean/replace spark plug, follow starting instructions
Chain won't move Chain brake engaged, improper tension, worn sprocket Disengage chain brake, adjust tension, inspect/replace sprocket
Excessive vibration Loose components, unbalanced chain, worn bar Tighten all bolts, balance chain, replace guide bar if worn
Chain comes off bar Improper tension, worn bar rails, damaged drive links Adjust tension properly, replace bar if rails worn, inspect chain
Poor cutting performance Dull chain, improper filing angle, insufficient oil Sharpen chain, maintain 30° filing angle, check oiler system
Oil leakage Overfilled tank, damaged seals, cracked oil line Fill to proper level, replace seals, inspect oil lines

Maintenance Codes & Indicators

  • Red Oil Light: Low bar and chain oil - Refill oil reservoir
  • Hard Starting: Check spark plug and fuel mixture - Replace if necessary
  • Chain Slipping: Chain tension too loose - Adjust tension properly
  • Excessive Smoke: Oil mixture too rich - Adjust fuel/oil ratio
  • Poor Idle: Carburetor adjustment needed - Consult service manual
  • Overheating: Clean cooling fins and check air filter
