Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine won't start | Old fuel, clogged spark plug, improper starting procedure | Use fresh fuel mix, clean/replace spark plug, follow starting instructions |
| Chain won't move | Chain brake engaged, improper tension, worn sprocket | Disengage chain brake, adjust tension, inspect/replace sprocket |
| Excessive vibration | Loose components, unbalanced chain, worn bar | Tighten all bolts, balance chain, replace guide bar if worn |
| Chain comes off bar | Improper tension, worn bar rails, damaged drive links | Adjust tension properly, replace bar if rails worn, inspect chain |
| Poor cutting performance | Dull chain, improper filing angle, insufficient oil | Sharpen chain, maintain 30° filing angle, check oiler system |
| Oil leakage | Overfilled tank, damaged seals, cracked oil line | Fill to proper level, replace seals, inspect oil lines |
Maintenance Codes & Indicators
- Red Oil Light: Low bar and chain oil - Refill oil reservoir
- Hard Starting: Check spark plug and fuel mixture - Replace if necessary
- Chain Slipping: Chain tension too loose - Adjust tension properly
- Excessive Smoke: Oil mixture too rich - Adjust fuel/oil ratio
- Poor Idle: Carburetor adjustment needed - Consult service manual
- Overheating: Clean cooling fins and check air filter
