Gas-Powered (358-series, Poulan-built)

• Won’t start / hard to start: Old fuel (drain & use fresh 89–93 octane + 50:1 synthetic); clean or replace spark plug (Champion RCJ6Y / NGK BPMR7A).
• Flooded engine: Pull starter 10–15 times with choke OFF; hold throttle wide open.
• No power / bogs down: Clean air filter; adjust carb (H=1 turn, L=1 turn out); check fuel filter in tank.
• Chain not oiling: Clean oil outlet hole under clutch cover; use bar & chain oil only (never motor oil).

Battery-Powered (CMCCS620, CMCS660, etc.)

• Won’t turn on: Check battery fully seated; clean contacts; try known-good battery.
• Chain brake activates randomly: Push brake forward fully to reset; clean debris around brake band.
• Overload light blinking: Let saw cool 5 min; use sharp chain; don’t force cut.

Electric (CMECS600, 316.350220)

• No power: Check extension cord (12-gauge max 100 ft); reset GFCI if tripped.
• Chain stops under load: Tighten chain (1/4"–3/8" sag); clean sprocket nose.

Safety note: Always wear gloves, eye/ear protection, and chaps. Never disable chain brake or safety throttle lock.
